Skiff Craft (bow eye)

Skiff Craft (bow eye)

I'm having a hard time finding a bow eye to replace (1973) model used on
my wooden boat. The original one has two shanks that are 1 5/8 on
center.I'm reluctant to drill another hole in the keel board (3x1.5)
Since I might have to use a different size and pattern bolts, I'm
wondering if I should:
a: redrill one of the existing holes, plug the other and go to a
single shanked eye bolt
b: redrill one of the existing holes, plug the other and redrill
for the eye bolt shank
c: have an eye bolt machined to fit existing holes
The keel board seems to be in excellent condition but the possibility of
weakening the back bone of this boat makes me ill. This boat weighs
close to 6000 lb. dry, and I have to winch it onto the trailer. Thanks
