Mercruiser - Dry Stack Storage

Mercruiser - Dry Stack Storage

Post by Allan Willoughb » Sun, 21 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I have a Mercruiser and are looking at storing the boat in dry stack
storage. The boat yard washes the outside of the boat but does not run fresh
water through the engine. The engine is RAW water cooled.
Has anyone stored a raw water cooled engine in dry storage, any pitfalls,
precautions etc

cheers
allan

I keep mine in dry storage, but flush the heck out of the engine after
each use.  If your intention is to simply let them put the boat away
without flushing the engine with fresh water, you'll quickly find out
how expensive a boat can be to own.

i've stored my in dry storage.. and have had no problems... but if the boatyard
does not flush your engines,, you should change boatyards...the guys at mine
are always more than willing to perform this duty, even when busy....
