best (sounding) deal was at Whiskey Island Marina, who quoted me $850 for
the year on my 17.5 bowrider. Here's the part I can't understand: When I
filled out the application, they told me that the price they quoted for a
17.5 boat, doesn't include the out drive, and "they" consider a 17.5 boat
to be 19.5 and DOUBLED the price! I promptly stopped writing the check, tore
up the application and left.
I stopped at Channel Park marina on my way home, they (I've been told) are
one of the more expensive places, so I wanted to compare prices. I told
the manager what had just happened and asked if they do the same thing. He
laughed and said "That's why I open on the days Whiskey Island has their
open houses" he said he hears stuff like that all the time, and usually gets
the customers. I signed a contract & saved a bundle!
Has anyone heard of marina's doing this?
