Cruising Gulf Coast in 28' Bayliner

Cruising Gulf Coast in 28' Bayliner

Post by WGRoedige » Tue, 23 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I have a 28' Bayliner Ciera that I'm considering cruising along the Gulf
coast in the Mobile/Pensacola area. Does anyone have any experience
cruising this area in a similar-sized boat? I don't plan any "blue-water"
cruising, but I'm sure I'll be out in the gulf at times when I'm not in
the ICW. My boat has an 8' beam, 260HP i/o.

Of course, there are boats that may be better suited to this type of
task, but my current one is paid for!

ps - Some people hate Bayliners, and would tend to send negative comments
about using one anywhere. If you are like this, pls don't respond.

A few years ago a good friend of mine took his Bayliner 24 CC from New
Orleans through the ICW to New York, then up the Hudson River, through
the Great Lakes, and finally down the Mississippi back to New Orleans.
He did this over a year's time, and loved it.  If you have a reasonable
bit of experience, a lot of patience, then I say do it!!

Several years ago I met a couple who had taken their 31 Bayliner from
New Jersey to the US *** Islands.  Anything is possible!
