Anyone know what has become of Bernard?  I last saw him in
Baja in 1983 when he lost the Joshua.  He went back to California and
then appeared in La Paz on a Swan a few months later.  I heard some
people got togehter in the town he lived in in California and had a
boat built for him.  Then a friend saw him in Hawaii later that year. I
haven't heard a word since, although I saw the Joshua for sale for
$50,000 in Seattle in 1990.

Well, I am sorry to have to report that he died of cancer this last June 16
at the age of 79. He last lived near Paris, France.

Joshua will remain on display at La Rochelle Maritime Museum.

Try to get his last book "Tamata et l'Alliance".

Yes, Bernard Moitessier died of cancer in Paris this past June. There is an
excellent article about him and his life in the September Cruising World.

He died of cancer in Paris recently.

The september Cruising World has an account of his life and is quite
good.
