It could be several days before investigators determine if a body
pulled from the Colorado River in Utah on Tuesday is that of a Grand
Junction woman presumed dead after a canoe accident, a spokeswoman for
the Mesa County Sheriff's Department said.
Mary Faulk, 39, has been missing since May 31.
The Grand County (Utah) Sher- iff's Department recovered the body of
an *** woman Tuesday afternoon below the Fish Ford area near Cisco,
said Mesa County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Janet Prell.
Grand County Sheriff James Nyland could not be reached for comment
Tuesday.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Department is acquiring Faulk's dental
records and will compare them to the recovered body, Prell said.
Faulk was canoeing with her husband when their boat overturned in
swift water and debris near the Black Rocks area two miles east of the
Utah border, Prell said.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Department has been searching for Faulk
between the Black Rocks area and Wes***er east of where the body
was recovered, Prell said.
