Marina with dry storage and ramp

Post by Ronald A. Widma » Mon, 25 Feb 2002 02:54:23

I purchased a new 18' I/O boat & trailer. Since it is about 65 miles from my
house to the Chesapeake Bay I am looking for a marina or boat yard with on
site storage and ramps. I have located two or three potential sites but
would like a few more to choose from, preferably between Annapolis and
Baltimore.  If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations I would really
appreciate the information.

Also, what are the pros and cons of this arrangement and what are the risks?

Thanks,

Ron

Try Sue Creek near Middle River.  I forget the name of the marina, but it's
next to the Baltimore Yacht Club.

There are a few places in Deale, MD, with site storage and
ramps...somewhat south of the area the fella wanted, but Deale happens
to be about the closest Bay site with facilities to the Washington, DC,
area.

There's no particular disadvantage to keeping a boat on a trailer in a
boat yard and using a nearby  ramp to splash it. Obviously, you don't
have the "enjoyment" of sitting on your boat in its slip, but, then,
your boat on its trailer isn't in the water deteriorating.

Gibson Island Marina in Gray's Creek on the Magothy River. The Magothy is
between the Severn River (Annapolis) and the Patapsco River (Baltimore).

Hope it helps,
