Walker Bay 8 - How do they sail?

Walker Bay 8 - How do they sail?

Hi, there!

I just bought one of those plastic Walker Bay boats you probably saw at a
boat show. In general, I like it: Light, rows well, roomy, and can't beat the
price! ($500CDN)

But I'm concerned about how well it will sail. It looks to me like the
daggerboard is aft of the center of effort of the sail, which would result in
lee-helm, which would result in not going to windward worth a damn.

So, before I pony up the $750CDN for the sail-kit, has anybody sailed one of
these?

Before you buy, check out Boaters World price on it. There;s is 399 for boat
and 399 for sail kit. Would be interested in knowing myself, thinking of one
for a tending dinghy, wonder how long that plastic will last in tropical
sunlight all day long.

$399US is $613CDN. I got a deal at $500CDN ($325US).

And the price itself isn't the issue - it's whether or not the boat sails worth
a damn.
