Greg Foster Returns As 'Mad Man Across The Water'
California Native Battles Rough Saginaw River To Win Bay City River Roar
Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, June 28 -- Greg Foster of Orange, California battled
the rough waters of the Saginaw River after two restarts to win the 'Formula
One Graff Chevrolet Bay City River Roar' Sunday, June 27. The race was
round four of the 1999 Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour. Foster averaged
109.3 mph in his Mercury 2.5 Liter Champ race outboard powered DAC hull to
cinch his first F-1 victory of the 1999 season. Defending Formula One
P.R.O.P. Tour champion Tim Seebold placed a close second. Jason Campbell,
Rusty Campbell and Formula One rookie Wyatt Nelson rounded out 2-5. All were
powered by Mercury 2.5 Liter EFI Race outboards. Todd Bowden still leads the
F-1 points chase with 1874 points, a mere 10 point lead over Tim Seebold.
Alden Thornton and Rusty Campbell round out the top four in the series
points chase with 1818 and 1804 points, respectively.
Richard Hearn of West Chester, Ohio averaged 96.7 mph to win the 1999
APBA/UIM SST 120/S2000 World Championship. Hearn was the American contingent
of the OptiMax 200 XS outboard powered 'Team Mercury' which place third
overall in the May 1-2 '24 Hours of Rouen' endurance powerboat race in
Rouen, France. Defending SST 120/S2000 World Champ J.R.Saffold finished
second with Vincent Voisin rounding out third. All were powered by Mercury
SST 120/S2000 Race outboards.
The 'Formula One Graff Chevrolet Bay City River Roar' race will be
televised on ESPN2 Saturday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. eastern time. Round five
of the Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour is July 24-25 in Saskatoon,
