I think what you're loopking for is refered to is a 'turtle'.  Basically
a fixed cover that the companion way hatch slides into when open.  I
tried to look up the term in a few sailing books, but couldn't find any
reference to it.  Perhaps another group member could help me out here.

Ericson refered to it as a hatch "garage." E27, 29, 32II & 35II all used
the same size.
From my 1986 edition E27 Owner's Manual: p/n was 16274 & the price was
$140.00. Wonder if the "garage" from any of the Ericsons Pacific
Seacraft is
building could be used?

Sonny,

Is this the same thing as a sea hood or storm hood?  I've made them
either using plywood and epoxy or building a rude/crude mold and use
either polyester and cloth (smells bad) or epoxy and cloth similar to
how it would be done in a "real" production shop.  A reminder as I'm
sure you're aware - the thing has to be stout enough to jump on so build
'er strong...
