Info needed on ancient racer

 INFORMATION NEEDED on old Mercury racing snowmobile;
Built for the 1969-70 West Yellowstone world speed record factory
shoot-out.

I'm probably certifiably crazy, but I want to build a replica (or find
the original!) of the Mercury 6 cyl, 125 hp racer featured on page 123
of the classic epic, "Warriors of Winter" by Bill Vint. This machine was
used at the West Yellowstone Speed Trials during the 1969-70 season, by
Jack Plunkitt and driver Glenn Wood. The sled's name is "Midnight",
built on the 1970 Mercury Model 250 frame, the name painted on the sides
of the hood, right in front of the three chrome megaphones coming out of
the side. The nose cone, normally holding headlight(s), had the center
removed, presumeably for airflow toward a radiator?  The book mentions
that it was a 125 hp outboard engine. This must be the Merc in-line 6 of
the time (Model 1250?).  I presume that there was one megaphone for
every 2 cylinders.  All I currently know about this sled is what is
mentioned in the book. Any history, photos, information, blueprints or
tech drawings, film footage, sightings old or new of the sled, rumors,
whereabouts of Mr.'s Plunkitt and Wood, whereabouts of a 1969 or 70 Merc
1250 outboard or pure B.S. and Lies is greatly appreciated.  Any old

 Mike;
         Hell, I have three of these damn sleds in the garage ! 2 are
still in the crate, 125 hp inline 6 outboard engine and all, the other
I use to tow my ice hut out with !  ...If I sink, the outboard keeps
me going !!   :-)   Having a bit of trouble with inside ski lift with
the sucker though.
