Da Bomb repeats as Cal State Games winner

For the second year in a row, El Cajon-based Da Bomb won the gold medal
for the 18-Under Softball Competition at the California State Games
last weekend. This year, the softball competition was held at Robb Field in
Ocean Beach. As the defending champion, Da Bomb battled teams from all over
California. Da Bomb averaged eight runs and almost 10
hits per game, while going undefeated in the tournament.
Jennifer Young (Granite Hills) and Diana Ramos (El Capitan) led the
local girls in hitting, with Young getting nine hits in 19 at bats, and
collecting seven safeties in 11 official trips to the plate. Ramos also got
game-winning rbi in the championship game, scoring Stephanie Calhoun (Mount
Miguel), who had doubled in the 7th inning and advanced to third on a
by Suzanne Yale (Valhalla). Stephanie Strangman (Valhalla) continued to hit
well, with six hits in 12 tries, including back-to-back doubles in one
