Well, make your own judgment.

Palm Beach CC won the NJCAA national championship, beating Central Arizona
13-2 in the championship game.

The Panthers (what a coincidence on nickname) were 61-5 this year.

Crystl, who is a member of Dale Moore's Panthers Gold team, hit .614 (135
for 220) with 110 runs scored, 102 RBI, hit 26 doubles, 14 triples, 23 home
runs, struck out ONCE and stole 52 bases.

Dale Moore is a humble guy...so I'll brag for his daughter, Jamie, who hit
.440 with 38 runs and 56 RBI, including 5 HR.

In the NJCAA playoffs, Crystl hit .619 with 13 runs, 11 RBI in six games;
Jamie hit .737 with 12 RBI.

So, is Crystl the best player in the nation? I wonder. I tend to think so
and she's a sure bet to dominate the 2000 Olympics. She might've had
something to do with the 1996 Olympics but we had to settle for Dani Tyler
and Christa Williams instead.

I would love to see Crystal hit against the likes of Lisa, Michelle, Lori, and to a much lesser extent Christa. Once Crystal proves she can do the same thing at that level (and I truely believe she will!) then we can talk about her being the best.
Crystal is a sure pick for the 2000 Olympics, write her in as Dot's replacement. I have never seen a non pitcher dominate a game like Crystal. She is a joy to watch play the game. I do not think you will find anyone that matches her combination of power, speed, and quickness.

When I umpire on the bases during one of Crystal's games, it is such a
joy.  What a quiet motivator she is.  What a stud over there at SS.  One
of my fondest memories is with Crystal at the plate, her batting stance is
so "casual" for lack of a better word.  She is like standing there with
her arms relaxed and her bat kind of on her shoulder.

Then the pitch comes in and my gosh, her hips turn on that ball, crushing
it somewheres east of the Jersey River (from Cypress, Ca.).  :)

Cheers,

Is Crystl Bustos the nation's best women's player?

I've seen Crystl Bustos play for years.  I first came across Crystl when
she was playing for the California Orange County Batbusters.  She was
extremely impressive then.  Make no doubt about it, she only got better
as she got older and stronger.  She was a big reason why Gordon's
Panthers were as successful as they were.  I have never seen a player as
complete as Crystl.  You've talked about her offensive skills which are
tremdous!  How about her defensive skills!  She would match up well
against Lisa & Michelle.  Christa she would destroy.  She is without a
doubt the best Softball Player in the country.  She will do a two year
stint at a JC then move up to a University.  I hope a Southern California
University picks her up.  I would love to see her play some more.  She is
just an amazing player.
