Right on Judd!

Fastpitch on the newstands, are you kidding, then everyone will find out
about our sport and there will be no seats in the park, next thing there
will be lineups to get in, players will want ridiculous salaries, there
will be work stopages, prices will go up, large daily newspapers will
start paying attention to us, we will get on the TV news, there will be
no end to it.

Soon to retire chief scout of the Ontario Hockey Association, Jack
Ferguson, is a great fastpitch fan and his most famous saying as he pays
for his ticket to get into a tournament is: "...I found you!... you tried
to hide this tournament, its location and dates... but I found you....".
His point being that fastpitch is Canada's (and apparently the USA's)
best kept secret.  We do very little to let the world know about
ourselves and we have full cooperation from the media (with the very
notable exception of the FAN Radio in Toronto with John Derringer, who is
a fastpitch fan) but we make very few exceptions..... "let's not tell
anyone about this great game...".

So let's hope we can continue to keep information about our sport off the
newsstand so that we can keep it to ourselves.  Let's continue to have an
exclusive club where the only way to find out what is happening is by:
1. word of mouth between fastpitch fans, and
2. subscribing to the Fastpitch Chronicle which lists all fastpitch
tournaments and provides complete coverage of all major tournaments and
of league play.

Yours in fastpitch,

Al Doran

(The above is an outright, unpaid plug for the best fastpitch paper
going)!

Subj:  AZ ASA 16 & UNDER?
Date:  96-09-08 14:52:12 edt

During the last 3 months of this past summer i worked out with the
HOTSHOTS but came in too late to join the team.  The coach said that he'd
contact me about tryouts for the following season which, i guess, is
happening now. I haven't heard anything so i was  wondering if anyone
knows anything about the tryouts for 16 &under in Arizona???????

The world's largest source of fastpitch softball news is THE FASTPITCH
CHRONCILE. A monthly publication (12 per year) that is published in
Wisconsin but covers the game around the world.

For more information on the Fastpitch Chronicle newspaper check out the
FASTPITCH CHRONICLE ON LINE web page at
