Has anybody been to the South Commons sports complex
for softball in Columbus, Georgia?  I hear they've built a
new stadium right at the practice field area for competition.
Didn't they play the Olympics there?  How did they play if
they just now built the stadium?

Anybody got any pros and cons on the place?  Would it be
a good site for ASA, College World Series, Olympic
qualifying, or Olympic training?

South Commons has the Olympic stadium that was built for the 96 games. Also at
the site is a 5-7 field complex, the site of several tournaments.

Sometimes, the championship games from the complex are played in the stadium.

The stadium is the home field of the Georgia Pride, the women's professional
team from Georgia.

Aside from location, (100 long miles southwest of Atlanta), there is no reason
it couldn't be used as an excellent venue for any of the above.

The 96 Olympics were actually played in the minor league baseball stadium
located at South Commons.  The softball complex, which is quite nice, hosted
the SEC championships in 97 as well as Superball in 97.  It is an excellant
complex for tournaments.

I believe this is where the NFCA Leadoff Classic was held in Feb this year.
Plenty of parking, concessions, restrooms, fields, with one real nice stadium,
and several other fields adjacent.  Very nice complex--enjoyed the visit and
the games.
