AZ High School Softball Rankings

For some reason, the "Arizona Republic" did not post a ranking this week.  This
ranking is from the "East Valley Tribune" on Wednesday.  I apologize but the
Tribune does not have the accurate team records for the 4A category.

Also, not much attention is given to the Tucson schools from the Phoenix
newspapers - so I have attached the "Arizona Daily Star" (Tucson) Super 7
rankings as well.

You can find both the "Tribune" and the "Daily Star" HIgh School sports info at
this link ... http://azhighschoolsports.com/

1.  Tempe Corona del Sol (5-0)
2.  Tucson Salpointe Catholic (8-0-1)
3.  Glendale Deer Valley (2-1)
4.  Phoneix Paradise Valley (3-1)
5.  Scottsdale Desert Mountain (9-1)
6.  Tucson Canyon del Oro (6-2)
7.  Tucson Sahuaro (8-1)
8.  Phoenix Desert Vista (5-1)
9.  Gilbert HS (6-2)
10. Scottsdale Horizon (4-2)

5.  Phoenix Thunderbird (0-0)
6.  Scottsdale Saguaro (2-2)

9.  Douglas HS (0-0)

"AZ Star" Super 7 (Tucson and Aouthern Arizona school rankings)

For some reason, the Arizona Republic has not yet posted their HS rankings -
this for the second consecutive week.

However, the rankings for the 5A and 4A teams from the "East Valley Tribune"
are as follows:

5A
1.  Tempe Corona del Sol (8-0)
2.  Tucson Salpointe Catholic (11-0-1)
3.  Scottsdale Desert Mountain (10-1)
4.  Tucson Canyon del Oro (9-2)
5.  Tucson Sahuaro (11-1)
6.  Phoenix Paradise Valley (8-3)
7.  Scottsdale Horizon (4-2)
8.  Glendale Mesquite (8-3)
9.  Gilbert HS (8-4)
10. Mesa Mountain View (7-4)

Corona has two excellent pitchers and Desert Mountain is lead by the pitching
of U of A bound Leslie Wolfe who is now 9-0.  The three Tucson schools have
pitching, defense and power and will simply get better by playing each other in
the Southern Region until the State Tournament.

4A
1.  Glendale Cactus (8-0)
2.  Phoenix Greenway (5-1)
3.  Tucson Sunnyslope (5-1)
4.  Phoenix Apollo (5-1)
5.  Scottsdale Saguaro (7-3)
6.  Scottsdale Arcadia (6-2)
7.  Scottsdale Chaparral (3-1)
8.  Peoria Centennial (3-1)
9.  Apache Junction HS (7-2)
10. Tucson Rincon (7-2)

Cactus and Greenway both play in the very tough Wells Fargo Region along with
Centennial so the level of play in that region will be high.

The Mohave HS Tournament of Champions starts this week with 40 teams
participating from California, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.  As
usual - this will be an outstanding showcase of talent so if you can get to
Bullhead City (somehow) go.  Many of the teams listed above will be
participating.
