I'm getting ready to buy 4 new bats.  If you had $500 what would you buy?

Most of the top college teams at the college world series use the
TPS or the Easton bottle bats.

I am hardly a know it all, spend alot of time as a know it not, but I
have felt for a number of years that the best bat for girl's fastpitch
is the Steele's. I based this on how the ball left the bat when I hit
infield or whatever since I no longer play. I have always felt the
red TPS bats dead compared to Steele's. Having used the C405 TPS bats
for the first time in December, I can easily now say it's the best.
Not including some $300 custom bat. The ball truly jumps off these bats
and so far they do not dent like the Easton's. They are sharp looking,
and being -9, would be especially good for younger players, turn-around
lefties, or any player who tends to drag the barrel.

My player's all loved them.

Tim,
 If I were to offer an opinion on a new bat, I would advise you to go
with the White Fernandez bat by Louiville. I know they also have a Lisa
model, but I think it's geared to rec ball (~$40/ 5oz diff) rather than
competitive (~$100/8oz diff). I personally have bought my teams and my
daughters the red TPS, and have not been convinced the newer bats are any
better for younger players. But since the Fernandez bat is basically the
TPS without the tapered grip near the knob, I am probably going to shift
to those. However, since there charging ~$15 to not put that in, maybe
I'll just keep buying the TPS's and take out the taper. Also, have you
thought about getting a slowpitch bat or two for T work or soft toss
drills. I used a heavier (34"/28oz) bat with my 12's and it seemed to
help them with control.

Tim, if I had $500, I'd hope I could buy FIVE bats.  But maybe I'm a
better shopper than you.  We've looked at the TPS green bottles and like
them, but TPS also has a new bottle made with c401(?) alloy instead of
the cu31(?).  I could be wrong on the alloy numbers, but who really
cares.  The new alloy bat is an ounce lighter.  That's the important
number. What's that mean?  More power!  Well, more bat speed anyway.
Other than a crummy Sting Stop TPS we bought last year, we've had great
success with TPS.

You might want to look at Longstreth, but they're a little pricey.  Try
Western Athletic.  If you don't have a catalog, let me know and I'll send
you their 800 number.

Louisville -TPS- Long Barrel.  33" 25 oz.  Make sure it is the new one
with the "anti sting" *** plug in the end of the bat.  It is
identified by a cup in the center of the plug.  Bat is available in
different lengths and weights.  They run about $90 each.

It all depends on what type of hitter you are if your a power hitter with
a quick exsplosive step use a long heavy bat if you have the power but not
quite as quick go with something a little shorter. If you lack the power
go with a bat very long with no weight. For the first type of player go
with almost a slowpitch pat you know the seventy dollar 32 ounce 34
length. For the second type thos tps or easten titaniam loaded with the
clear top bat which run in exsess of one hundred and 150 dollars same
lengt bu a 28 or 30 ounce. For the third type of hitter the lightest and
longest bottle neck you can find It would probaly cost you about one
hundred dollars for a 36 inch 24 26 ounce easten orMizuno bottleneck.
