It is a gathering of 10 teams that will play each other in a non-tournament
format.

Interresting.......what a good deal !!...3 games for $25 each or $25 total !!

I manage a 12U team in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. and here all we have are tournaments
every weekend that cost us $250 each weekend.

By the way....this is the area that Claire Sua from UCLA came from. I have had
to coach against her since she was 8 years old. What a great player and
family!!!

Debbie

They are also known as friendlies or round robins.. Ten different teams play 2-4
games against other teams in the group. each team pays for the umpires in this case
25$ each team each game. So a team may ask to play 4 games against 4 other teams or
maybe just two games and typically 3. Mostly games are used for another form of
practice and depending on agreements before hand they may bat all the batters on
the team, or may work on International Tie Breaker or whatever. Sometimes they
agree to have free substitution. Friendlies allow for teams to play under real game
situations and yet still work on team skills. Some teams take them a bit more
serious or win at all costs but this is generally not the rule as the games do not
mean anything with respect to standings or rankings. In Socal the main reason teams
play friendlies or tournaments is to prepare for ASA Qualifiers or Nationals.

PS - Saw Claire when playing for Bombers and you are right , she is a good one.
