World Champ.: Results Relais

Post by ID » Wed, 10 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Now, I have nothing against Europe or European fencers, but I hope this
Junior World Championship means that fencing has now overcome one of
it's image problems, i.e., that it is strictly a European dominated
sport.  It feels good to know that I will soon not have to cross an
ocean to fence the best.
My hat is off to the U.S. which has posted so many breakthrough
results.

I think that all of the fencing world should send a large "Thank You!" to

results to rec.sport.fencing.

Those of us with access to the web also saw his wonderful photographs
on: http://www.synec-doc.be/escrime/

It was a pleasure for me to meet this fine gentlemen at the championships
and know that fencers in all parts of the world were, through his
excellent work, able to find out about our world championships.  Bernard
Lombart was at every final taking pictures and getting the results to put
on the net.  Within an hour after each final, the rest of the world could
find out what had happened.

I want to second George K's plaudits for the Cadet/Junior Worlds website
and add kudos for the NCAA website. It's wonderful to have timely and
results from competitions and not have to wait for  the survivors to come
straggling back.
