USFA 1995-96 Planning Calendar--When?

Post by K F Ward » Wed, 26 Jul 1995 04:00:00

I'm sure that many of us would appreciate having a realistic sense of  the
USFA  venue sites and final dates of the 1995-96 tournament schedule.
I've been checking the WWW regularly, hopeful each time that the "week" we
are waiting for in order to get the posting has finally passed.  Are there
at least any definite dates/places that you can commit to now?   It sure
would help making local tournament plans and personal schedules.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Tournament Committee is included in that "many of us".
My most recent message from Michael Massik indicated that the venue for
the October 7 weekend Youth NAC fell through, and that tournament was
without a home (this was as of 7/23).

I keep trying, too. Now that I am back from vacation, I will check on it
again.

Just out-of-curiosity, what does a club have to do to get a tournament
certified as a, "Designated Canadian Tournament"?  (OK, so the Beaches
Club does have high aspirations for its Annual Desert Classic Sabre
Tourney....)

Is this actually an open senior NAC in addition to being U-20? That is,
are there actually four(!) NACs for every weapon this year?

The USFA Weapon Coordinators and International Committee designate certain
Canadian elite tournaments as US point competitions. AFAIK, they consider
expected strength of the competition, timing relative to US point
competitions, European "B"s and World Cups, and quite possibly the
alignment of celestial bodies.

The fact that a Canadian competition is "designated" means that points may
be earned at it towards US team selection, and that US ratings (A, B, C,
etc.) may also be earned. (US RATINGS MAY ONLY BE EARNED AT CANADIAN
COMPETITIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DESIGNATED AS US SELECTION EVENTS, REGARDLESS
OF THEIR STRENGTH -- DON'T EVEN ASK! -- at least we got _this_ much ;-)

Hope this explains things adequately.

Yes, four (4) (IV) (quatre) (empat) (quattro) (vier) (cuatro) (0100)
(positive square root of 16) (3! - 2) etc., etc., etc. Open NACs for each
weapon this year.
