Fencing in NYC

Post by Matt Muehlbau » Fri, 05 Jan 1996 04:00:00

Hello.  I recently moved into Manhattan, and I'm thinking of picking up
fencing again (I last fenced in college).

I would appreciate any and all responses regarding clubs and places to take
lessons, as well as shops where I can pick up equipment.

Thanks

and the Metropolis Fencing Center at 45 W.21st., 2nd Floor 212-463-8044

Hello, Matt.

Look for Fencer's Club or NY Atheletic Club.  I can't imagine how
you could go wrong with them.  As for reliable equipment and
fantastic service, try Santelli.  They're located just across
G.Washington bridge in Englewood.  If you're looking for
Allstar/Uhlmann stuff, I strongly recommend that you take your
business with the Canadians if you want a guarantee that you're
getting the real thing, not a fake piece of metal bowl that'll
crumble in the first thrust.
