Spelling the weapon correctly might help.

There are two correct spellings for the weapon.

saber and sabre (this is listed as the chiefly British spelling in
                 the American Heritage Dictionary.)

I am one of the people organizing the Annual Stony Brook Fencing Club Open.
Usually we have Open Foil, Epee, Sabre, and this year we're adding youth
foil and sabre. All events are Mixed.

If you think we should consider having a separate women's sabre, i.e. that
we could help the cause or attract people by having one, let me know. We
are probably having it Sep. 25, this year, but that isn't completely firm
yet.

Later,
Andrew Mullhaupt

Dear Andrew;

I will list your date in in the newsletter that I send to the other
competetive women saber fencers.  I am working with Sandra Harris
(chairman of the Womans Saber)  we are trying to get a larger attendance
at different events in order to increase the ratings of the women fencers.

trying to work together on this.  Thanks again for the information.  Diane

Dear Matt;
Sorry you did not like my spelling of Saber.  Regardless, we are also
interested in Women's Saber or Women's Sabre (whatever pleases you) in
your area.  If you have any tournament information please pass it on.
Thanks, Diane Dominguez, Fencing 2000, Chicago, Illinois.
