The following is an ascii version of a flyer that we are sending out
to all the people who ticked fencing as something they were interested
in on the start of year enrolement questionare.

Please help me try to improve it so we can get lots of beginners

mail or post any improvements or suggestions for recruiting people

Thanks in advance

Melbourne Uni Fencing Club {Heading including logo}

The fencing club is running a second semester beginners course.
The course will begin Thursday July 29 (The second week of semester).
It runs for 8 weeks on Thursday nights from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
The cost of $40 includes memebership for the rest of the year.
Gear use is provided free for the beginners course and throughout the year.

Good reasons to take up fencing {Heading }

The sport for romatics.
Very low incidence of injuies in fencing.
Keep fit without getting bored, hurt, polluted, humiliated, wet or broke.
The sport for thinkers, tatics a bit like a physical game of chess.
Men and Women can complete on an equal footing. {Probabley be droped}
Watch films like the Princess Bride with a completely new angle.
Meet lots of really interesting people, then run them through.
Feel confident in dark alleys knowing you could defend yourself, if you had a foil.
Great sport for the leg muscles.
Interesting conversation starter.

Melbource University Fencing Club (MUFEC) {Heading }

MUFEC caters for all leverls of fencing. Most people who join
the club have never fenced before. MUFEC meets normally on Mondays
and Thursdays at 7:30 pm throughout the year in the
trophy hall, beauripeare centre.

What to do {Heading}

Turn up on any fencing night to see what happens, or just turn up for
the first lesson. Please ring if interested so we can gauge numbers
or if you have any questions.

yow, it's Ian here monash uni fencing club, someone wrote a really
good one for us, I think it was our treasurer David Godley, (an ex-arts
student of course), so if you want it give Janine a ring, she should(?)
know where it is if she doesn't she'll have Davids Number.

Well...
        Which one are you refering to?.... Several have been written in
the past years.... The best one that I know of (written for the Monash
O-Week) is the one that Jay Mackley wrote.  I *may* have a copy of it
somewhere but don't hold your breath.....

G'day fellas,

I spoke to Jay last night at fencing about this.  Needless to say he was
flattered to be remembered.  I wouldn't be surprised to find a copy winging
its way to your courtesy of Australia Post and Jay - he said he had some
copies somewhere and that he'd be in touch...
