We will be visiting Long Island during late September on a business course
and would be interested in visiting any local club during our stay. If
anyone knows of any friendly clubs within spitting distance of Long
Island we would be pleased to hear from you.

Cheers

Hello!  There are two fencing clubs on Long Island.  The Long Island
Swordsmen meets on Thursday nights in Roslyn, NY.  There are many young
fencers and some older fencers.  There are mainly foil fencers with an
occasional epeeist or sabreur.  The club is friendly, but the level of
fencing is only fair.  Farther out East is the Long Island Fencing Club.
I am not sure, but I believe that they meet on Mondays.  I am also unsure
about who fences there.  As you probably know, there are also three
excellent clubs in Manhattan:  The Fencer's Club on W. 71st St, the NY
Athletic Club on Central Park South and Club Metropolis in the West 20's.
If you have transportation, the fencing is at a substantially higher level
at the last three clubs.  There is also Salle Santelli in Northern New
Jersey, but that would be quite out of your way.  If any of those places
interest you, please let us know.  I will get you whatever further
information that I can.

Regards,
Joel Solomon.

On Long Island is also the Stony Brook Fencing Club at the State
University
of New York, Stony Brook. It meets Sunday afternoons and Friday nights
at the Indoor Sports Complex on the campus.
