sand ankle support

Hi everyone:
Does anyone out there know of any methods or products that
support the ankle on sand? Most people say that you don't need it,but
my ankle is pretty weak and I love the sand.

                                                  Thanks for the help

Hi Leftie,
I've sprained both ankles (a couple of times), so I started wearing a
neoprene ankle brace when I play on the sand. Its not a lot of
support, but I found it keeps the joint warm, and the snugness doesn't
allow a lot of sand in.

Hope this helps!

Leftie,

I got the information off my brace.  It's made by "Medical Specialties, Inc."
from C***te, NC.  Their toll-free number is 800/334-4143.  The other side
of the tag says "ASO" and a patent number of 5,067,486.  Good luck in your
search, and in your game, and let me know if you need further information.
I can call my Doc and ask her who her supplier is, if you need it.

Steve

I have used two different methods:

1:      Just tape the angle and use a nylon sock on the tape.
2:      Use a nylon sock and ordinary McDavis-type angle support

Method 1 is better to play and gives more support, but tape costs and
method needs a lot of work. Method 2 is cheaper and easier, but more sand
gets inside the support.

Of course taping is probably the best method, provided its done by someone
who can wrap the ankle correctly.  But while you're playing this summer,
consider beginning a strengthening program to improve the
muscles/tendons/ligaments in the ankle area.  My physical therapist has
done wonders following a severe ankle sprain I suffered playing, of all
things, racquetball.  It only takes TIME, and next summer you'll feel alot
more comfortable playing with minimal or no support.
