New York February 2, 2012: The 4C Totally Light 2Go Big Shot
Volleyball Series, presented by Rider Sandals, will start the 2012
season with 4 Florida tournaments during March and April. Teams from
throughout the East Coast will compete as they warm up for the 2009
Pro Beach volleyball season. Top male and female doubles teams will
compete for $3,000 cash prizes at the tournaments starting with the
first event February 25-26 in Clearwater Beach followed by tournaments
in Singer Island March 3-4 and April 20-21 in Lido Beach, Sarasota.
Tournament play will start at 9 am with finals scheduled for 5 pm each
day. Admission is free for all spectators.
All events will be sanctioned by Volley America, the largest grass
roots beach volleyball organization in the country.
The Big Shot Volleyball Series holds 35 events leading to the $8,000
Big Shot Championships at the end of the summer at Ballys *** in
Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 Volley America National Championships
Oct. 22-23 in Clearwater Beach. The Lido Beach tournament is sponsored
by the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Top players in the 4C Big Shot Series include Florida star Steve
grotowski who is expected to represent Great Britain in the 2012
London Olympics. Also competing will be Adrian carambula, the top
player in Florida from Miami Beach, S. Carolina star Jake Elliott, who
finished as high as 9th on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, and Florida
stars Mike DiPierro, Mark Van Zwieten and Bill Chenoweth who have all
placed on the AVP Tour.
Top womens players include Clearwaters Tara Kuk and Kim Whitney and
the top team on the East Coast Brooke Sweat (Estero, FL) and Kristen
Batt (Venice, FL) plus Siesta Key players Megan Wallin and Chara
Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice
levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a
full day of tournament play, an official 4s Totally Light 2Go Big Shot
Volleyball t-shirt, and a chance to win merchandise prizes from
