THE BEST MEN & WOMEN VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS IN THE WORLD BATTLE FOR
AVP KING & QUEEN OF THE BEACH AT THE HARD ROCK HOTEL AND ***
Marina Del Rey, CA (September 15, 2000) -- The
Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) is
returning to Los Vegas, NV for the world renowned Paul
Mitchell King and Queen of the Beach competition on
October 5-8, 2000 at the Hard Rock Hotel and ***.
The top 14 AVP Men and BVA (Beach Volleyball America)
Women Beach Volleyball Players will compete in a round
robin format, exchanging partners to figure out who
deserves the ultimate title, "King and Queen of the Beach."
As the 12th and final event on the 2000 AVP tour, the
Paul Mitchell King and Queen of the Beach is the grand
finale, with beach volleyball's best athletes
competing for over $250,000 in prize money. For
tickets to the King and Queen of the Beach contact the
Hard Rock Hotel and *** Box Office 1-800-693-ROCK.
The qualifying rounds will begin at 10am on Thursday
at Sunset Park (there is a free shuttle from the Hard
Rock Hotel & *** to Sunset Park) and finish around
2pm. The Main Draw tournament will then continue on
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday at the Hard Rock Hotel and
*** starting each day at 9am and ending around 5pm.
As the number one seed in the King of the Beach
tournament, Canyon Ceman (Champion of 2 AVP events
this year in Huntington Beach, CA with partner Brian
Lewis and Belmar, NJ with partner Mike Whitmarsh) will
be ready to challenge his fellow teammates to see if
they can stand up to the test. The relentless team of
Dax Holdren and Todd Rogers (Winners of 2 events
together this year in Chicago, IL and Muskegon, MI)
will also be there, but this time instead of winning
together, they will have to battle for a crown that
can only be given to one King.
Competing for Queen of the Beach will be young rising
beach volleyball sweethearts Rachel Wacholder and
Hermosa Beach Champion Leanne Schuster. Last years'
Queen of the Beach, Holly McPeak, will also be there
to stake her claim, so let the games begin!
