Going to Final Four? Yes I Am!!

Indeed, it may seem there are at least 50,000 Stanford fans checking this
board -- with many having the name Perry by some strange coincidence...

But regardless of what happens to Stanford in the regionals this
weekend, I am headed to Austin and the Final Four.  I promise to post not
just results and stats but as many interesting and engaging tid-bits as I
can dig up -- all this for the sheer love of the sport and for all us WVB
"netters" because I know there ain't no coverage out there and turning to
the Internet is the next best thing...

Requests?  Comments?  Just make sure your subject lines are clean <g>

I will be there too, as will Debbie Hunter, USA Coaching Education
Director, Doug Beal, Margie Mara USAV Managing Director of Programs, and
National Team staff. I just left a meeting with Sandy Vivas, Executive
Director of the AVCA and others (the Sports Medicine and Performance
Commission) andj they will be on the internet next month at

I'd like to meet you face to face and get you to work with the AVCA to
opitimize getting the NCAA stats up faster.  My proposal to them is to use
the NCAA men's programs, as 63 of them, to use the internet for posting,
using an FTP site for compliling, not the RSV - that is where the
summaries would go.  I also think that a new newsgroup just for collegiate
volleyball would clean up part of RSV from the top end.  That is part of
what I'd like the AVCA to help us with.

Thanks for all you are posting.

I think that is a great idea, especially those of us who live in a volleyball
wasteland
like St. Louis.  We only get Wash U, Illinois, and Mizzous scores.
No coverage of anything else.  Pretty depressing.

See you in Austin.

PS Maybe you can get Glen Lietzke to automate this whole thing.

I know that alot of people on RSV are going to the Final Four.  And
since I and I am going to cover the Final Four for my radio station,
how about we all set up a place at the Erwin Center that we can all meet?
I know the arena, and I could easily give you a place, and we can all
get together, and talk about what is going on, and what they think of
the Tournament to this point.  Thoughts?

Going to Final Four? Yes I Am!!

Well, after much prodding and thought on the issue, I have decided to go
to Austin as well.  Actually, this was necessary to preserve the
Perry-parity-principle whereby Mr. Brissette (P+) and myself (P-) must
always be within close proximity lest the world of volleyball self
destruct.  If a P+ or P- are isolated, the results could be disastorous.

I'll be taking along a notebook (analog... you now, paper and pen stuff...
note a "notebook" computer) and if I can keep myself calm, I'll try and
take adequate notes for some good match summaries.  Maybe P+ will even
let me use his computer to post real-time summaries here...  and maybe
we can work together on some reports.

Some people out there have proposed that the r.s.v'ers meet.  I'm up
for that.  I don't know the best way to arrange this, however.

For those who are interested, my tickets are for
Section 33, row 9, seat 10

I don't know where I am staying yet.

Anyone familiar with the Erwin Center and/or surrounding area want to
suggest a place to meet either before or after the matches?  Ron?

There is a Cafe Serranos and a Brick Oven Pizza just south of Erwin
Center.  Other than that you could go to Sholz Beer Garden, which is a little
farther.  Or anywhere on "The Drag" or Guadalupe street.
