Volleyball's Future, Kids, and TV

The Volleybum made some simple, but accurate points in his description of the
"state of volleyball". I think there are certain things that we, the volleyball
public, can control. We can introduce and teach the game to our young people,
family, and  friends. I do feel as if an organized effort to generate more
media exposure is necessary, but until the numbers overwhelmingly demonstrate
TV coverage is needed, it will not happen. When college volleyball, mens' or
womens', consistently find 3,000 to 5,000 butts in their arenas, TV coverage
will follow. Sure, I would love to see more volleyball on TV, and I believe the
sport deserves it, but if the powers to be just don't see it that way. Quite
honestly, I can see plenty of volleyball by attending high school, club, and
college matches. This may be more difficult for some volleyball enthusiasts,
but as the VBbum stated, "Kids are the future of this sport", so let's all make
a special effort to get the youngsters  involved.
