I wonder whether the noise of the ski boats is uncomfortable for waterski
communities residents.
The maximum noise level recommended for a neighbourhood is 55 dB.
I believe the dB readings for the new tournament boats are near 70 measured
from a distance of 100 feet.

Its not the db its the humidity <g>.
IMO a tourney boat (with mufflers) sounds as sweet as a loon compared to a
PWC or freaks with twin 502 Bravos and thru-hull exhaust. Since most
ordinances insist a boat makes headway speed at least 100 to 150' feet away
from shore, 70 dB is nothing. The Peeper frogs are louder than that on a hot
night.
A 'waterski community' should expect some boat noise, no? I bet a serious
skier's relaxation tape could be of a well tuned 351 or lt-1.
