2000 Tige' 21v Riders Edition

Hi to everyone.

I just took delivery of a 2000 Tige' 21v Riders Edition. The boat is awesome
and the wakeboard wakes are large and have great shape. However, I have a
couple of problems/questions. Does anyone out there have any experience with
TAPS? The TAPS system on my boat worked well when I test drove the boat at
closing. Then, when I got it home, it stopped working. I pulled the boat out
of the water to get a look at the trim tab and hydraulic arms which control
it to see if there was anything obvious which was hindering the movement of
the arms or the tab itself. Nothing found there. At this point I called my
dealer. He told me that the hydraulic lines might need to be bled. I'm no
mechanic neither will I claim to be mechanically inclined. But I should be
able to bleed these lines myself, shouldn't I? The only place where I see
where I could disconnect the two hydraulic lines are right up at the pump.
Is there a simple bleeding procedure I can use to ensure that I do this
right and 1., not burn out my pump and 2., not cover myself with hydraulic
fluid?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

BTW, even with the TAPS system set at 1/2 off full wakeboarding wake, the
wake is just smooth and huge. My brother says I'm getting 9-10ft out of the
water and clearing the wake on the other side by 10-15 feet!! This is unreal
seeing that I was only getting maybe 5 feet of air behind my buddy's 18 1/2'
I/O. Aside of this TAPS problem, the boat is unreal! The boat has great
power; driveability, wakes, storage, looks. this is the boat I never thought
I would own. Sorry. I don't mean to gloat.

Glad you like your boat.

I doubt air is in your system. Air in the hydraulic system just
doesn't "appear". There would have to be a leak somewhere for
the air to get in. Besides all the Bennents and Tilt/Trim setups
I've worked on have the pumps mounted higher than the actuators
and therfore self-bleeding.

Does it work at all? Check it on the trailer.

Check the oil level in the pump, I talked to another Tige owner a couple
years back at the dock. He was out on his first trip with the new boat and
was complaining about the same problem you have. We checked the oil level in
the pump and could not even see any oil in the little tank ! He bought
hydraulic fluid at the marina and his problem was fixed.

I would think the dealer would take care of the problem for you without
cost, after paying that much for their product...I've had a few minor things
happen to my boat, and the dealer fixed them right up for me,no problem.

When you press the button is the pump working? Is there any pump
noise?  If not check the fuse, check the wiring, look for a loose
connection.  Also check the fluid level.  If all seems ok then take it
back to the dealer and tell him to fix it.
