Johnson engine trouble

Hi
I have a problem with the outboard on my ski boat. The boat is a Fletcher
14.5ft with a 40hp Johnson. The motor is
misfiring and hunting, when full power is applied, the motor sometimes bogs
down - if this happens I have to take the throttle off and reapply it, this
sometimes clears it.  I think this sounds like fuel problems, I've checked
the ignition and it sparks ok. I've flitered the fuel, checked the fuel filter,
cleaned the carb.. The only thing I can think of is the fuel pump either not
working, or leaking fuel into the crankcase....

Any ideas????

I have had problems with poor electrical connections when the connections are
low-tension and are made physically. Try cleaning such contacts with #360
sandpaper. On older motors oxides build up that cause erratic operation.
