50 degree water 46 degree air intermitent rain. Wonderful.
In between rain we had glass and calm. My buddy still loves the KD7000 I
sold him. With what I learned from it, I did some fine tuning on my
Hammer. Amazing. First I skied the way it has been set up for three
years. It was really hard to complete an offside turn smoothly. I always
assumed I was the problem. Then I moved the fin forward 1/4" and
shallowed the fin a bit. Second set the turns were much smoother but
just a tad bit rushed. So I added a couple degrees of brake and presto,
my Hammer was smooth as silk.
So now I'm open water sking with my 5.5 year old 66 inch Hammer at 32
mph and really liking it. I'm almost wondering if I really need anther
ski yet? I never had it dialed in correctly for me.
This really has me wondering. I am currently about 190 6' tall and had
sweats and neoprene jacket under a baggy dry suit running only 32 mph
and felt great. I would think at 34 and in just a bathing suit it would
feel even better. Do I really need a new ski? The KD7000 felt small,
was hard to get out of the hole with and didn't feel good until 34mph
and then felt squirrelly. Is it possible that the Hammer is wide enough
to carry me comfortably into say 34mph 28 off. I'm really starting to
debate buying a new ski when I just got this one figured out.
