Racing wheels or both Tri's and road racing

Hi,
I am looking or a set of wheels that is good or both road racing and
triathlons.  I thought I had settled on the velomax tempest but the low
spoke count in the front now has me concerned.  It seems that the paired
spoke count is all over the place but John Cobbs new tests are showing there
lack of aerodynamics so I want to avoid them.  I was thinking about the
mavic wheels but the ones in my price range were too heavy ( cosmic and
kryserium elite).  I would like a set under 1700g.  So what do you think is
the best wheel if you had to choose one. Thanks

Ksyrium is a great all around wheel, which is no the most aerodynamic, but
is still good.  The advantage is lightweight and very durable, so these are
not really race only wheels.  I have a set and I like them a lot.

As has been discussed in the past, a custom built wheelset could probably
give similar performance and weight at a reduced cost, about $300 less than
the $800 Kysriums.

Velocity Aerohead or Deep V rims
20 spoke front and 24 rear.
American Classic, Hugi, or Campy Record Hubs.

Wheels built to these specs would probably be very similar to Kysriums in
weight and performance.

Speedreams.com  (two d's?)

This is a website where this guy Dave sells custom wheelsets and he offers
the above spec for about $500.

I have a set of deep Vs built on Campy hubs and I personally think the
Kysriums are a little better.

Have you considered Campy's Eurus?  Lower perimeter weight than Kysriums &
less $.  Also available Shimano compatible hub.

Cheers,

I bought a set of Zipp 404's last spring.  They are the best all
around wheel I've ever found.  Lighter and just as stiff as Rolfs,
much stiffer than Spinergys and just as aero.
I'm a cat 3 roadie and did about 16 road races/crits and 7 tri's
including IM Wisconsin on these wheels.  They corner great in crits
and are light for the climbs.  The aerodynamics are very good with
such a deep section rim.

They are the best

I am selling a Spinergy Xaero wheelset 650c. Shimano Compatible. Comes with
spinergy skewers and Spinergy Wheelbags. Clincher wheelset. Yellow PBO
spokes, black rim. Very striking combination. Extremely light and
comfortable wheelset. A great wheelset to train and race on. These wheels
have 400 miles on them and have never been crashed. They have been used for
races only. I will include the set of Michlen Axial Pro tires in the
photos(Same 400 Miles). Buyer pays shipping charges.
