Iliotibial band syndrome

Yes, your are not alone out there.  I had two surgeries for chronic ITB.
The first was exploritory aurthroscopic with a little bit of cleaning out.
After proper recorery time I started "running" program again with no
positive results.  About 6 months later I had open knee surgury with a
Lateral Release, lots of scare tissue bursa removal & a slight shaving of
the knobie bone on the side of the knee to smooth out the band passing
over it.
This all occured about 2 years ago.  I had my first full tri season last
summer since 91 and I just ran Long Beach Marathon yesterday....no pain,
100%!
Regardless of what you do, it will take lots of time.  DON'T RUSH IT & BE
CAREFULL!!!  Drop be a line if you need more info or personal insight!
Good luck, Mike Fillipow-Long Beach,CA
