Potential move to NJ/NYC

Post by MOBE ID HER » Fri, 05 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hi; I am considering a possible relo from Atlanta to the northern NJ/NYC
area....I have some flexibility as to where I can live (currently may
have a chance to grab a friends rent-control apt. in  NYC!!) and need
some recommendations as to where to settle to maximize my training in
limited time..........

It would be nice to have access to  1) Masters swimming (50M pool would
be great!) 2) areas to bike and run (track & trails) without getting run
over by cars..... 3) Group training

ANY input would be great!

Thanks in Advance & training hard for '99 racing

Frank

I used to live near Central Park in NYC, and it's pretty good for training.
It has a 6 mile loop for running and biking. It is closed to cars on the
weekends, but you need to go during off peak hours to avoid rollerbladers,
tourists, etc. Asphalt Green on the Upper East side has a Masters thing going
on. Hope this helps.

Potential move to NJ/NYC

I live just outside NYC in Montclair, NJ. A wonderful community 12 miles
from the city. We have everything you seem to be looking for. Good road
riding, good (make that great)  mountain biking near by, and excellent
"Y" with a great pool, and up to date weight and cardio equipment (and
only $27.00/month), running clubs, and a wonderful quality of life.

In fact there is a duathlon on 3/28 in central park.  First one of the
year.

If you would like to find out more about what is going on in my part of
the woods feel free to e mail me.
