just looking for advice on applying sunscreen at Hawaii IM.  i'm
assuming you'd have to use it or completely fry.  question is, when is
it possible/appropriate to apply so i'm not burnt too bad by the end?
any tips on that?  thanks

There will be volunteers in T1 change room that will smear you with it if
you want.   I never use any but then I am well tanned by the time I get
there.  If you are light colored then by all means get plenty.

In both transitions they have these huge 5 gallon buckets that look like
they came from Sam's Club. A volunteer with *** gloves will smear the
stuff all over your body! Takes 20 seconds for a good thick coat.

Ryan- take the 10 second rub-down w/ the sunscreen.  I tan very well (and
live in AZ), am part native american, and STILL burned a bit last year (no
peeling, but the numbers on my arms and legs were tattooed into my skin for
several months afterward).  Last year was even pretty cloudy during the
run...
I'd do it just to avoid having to explain the bizarre tan lines.
