For Immediate Release

The MOHICAN PINEMAN is here!!!!

(Columbus, OH) - Health and Fitness Promotions (HFP) has released the
name and venue for their ironman distance race. HFP has made it
official, the "MOHICAN PINEMAN" will be produced in what's known as
"Mohican Country" at Pleasant Hill Lake Park in Perrysville, Ohio on
Saturday, September 25, 1999.  Mohican Country is famed for its indian
warriors and rugged pine forest terrain.  The weather this time of the
year is awesome.  Mid 70's and low humidity.

The 2.4 mile swim will start at first light and will be an elongated
rectangle along the shore of Pleasant Hill Lake.  Expected water
temperature is 72' (wetsuits allowed).  The 112 mile bike course will
feature scenic rolling hills and some very demanding climbs utilizing
the spectacular road system around the Mohican region.  The bike
course will be a single loop course with two out and back sections.
The 26.2 mile out and back run course will be mostly flat with some
rolling hills in the first and last seven miles with over 12 miles on
the very flat "Rails to Trails" bike path.

The MOHICAN PINEMAN will offer age group, relay, clydesdale
(3-classes), athena, and mountain bike divisions (for those riding on
mountain bikes on the bike course).

MOHICAN PINEMAN entries are available. Field is limited to first 500
entries received by mail.

Pleasant Hills, better know as "un-pleasant" hills to those who
have raced there, should provide a most challenging bike course
for both experienced and novice participants with the surrounding
forests fall colors providing beautiful scenery during the run
segment.

Having raced in nine HFP sponsored events this year I'm confident
next year's first Ohio based Ironman will be well orchastrated
and worth attending.

Agreed. I've also participated in many HFP events this year and besides the
great race organization, they always have helpful and pleasant volunteers, well
marked courses, and plenty of aid stations.

The Mohican area provides some of the most beautiful scenery in all of the
midwest, especially in the early fall.

I know that a lot of people that did not make it into IMC'99 are looking at the
Lake Placid IM, but this race should not be overlooked, and the climate in late
September is going to be far more favorable to the athletes than mid-August.

Is there any additional info available, web site, etc, for HFP or this race?
Thanks, Jim
