My 2300 also came has a seven speed but with the new 130mm spacing. You
should be able to place the 130 wheel into your drop outs because the
spacers are beveled and should spread the frame. 4mm is not a big distance

It is very easy to "spring" 4mm out of your dropouts. You just pull them
apart with your fingers as your put the wheel in the frame. I do reccommend
that you move to 8sp rather than spend more money on 7sp stuff. All you need
are new shifters and a new cassette (and the 8sp hub). However, I would not
suggest spending money just to gain 2 extra gears, IMHO you need another
reason to make the change.
