i'm considering switching from my cannondale r700 to a beam bike.
understand that they're a lot more comfortable and make you more
efficient.  looks like softride is the best for the buck from what
i've read so far.  can anyone lend some advice ?

any used power v's for sale ??

I've ridden a Softride solo for three years including IMC in 1995 and
come off bike fresher than when I ride my Trek.  The Trek is lighter by
at least two pounds due to the beam and STI on the Softride.  But I
think
the trade off is worth it.  This may not hold true in shorter events,
although my bike splits did not seem to suffer (slow before slow after).
Beam bounce at high cadence is a problem for the first few rides.  This
smoothes out and the Beam turns you into a great down hiller by damping
out road chatter on hard corners.  Hope this is of some help.

Thomas -
I recently bought a Powerwing in favor of my R700.  What a difference!  I
can now ride on rough roads without discomfort and the frame is far more
'aero than the oversized tubing of the Cannondale.  I've only been on two
long rides, so I'm still bouncing a bit, but the beam set-up is designed
to make for more efficient pedaling.  You'll also feel far better
starting the run when you're not getting the stuffing beaten out of you
on the R700.  The Powerwing weighs more, but I haven't really noticed the
difference outside of lifting it to put on my car rack.  Take a test ride
and good luck!
