Women's Olympic Trials

If you're interested, Christine Clark, from Alaska, won the women's marathon
olympic trials, in 2:33-plus,so unless the rules change she'll be the only
American in Sydney.  Runnersworld.com has a page with good live race
commentary, but runnersworld is overloaded.  You can back-door through
trackandfieldnews.com, which has a link directly to the coverage.

Women's Olympic Trials

I just came back from the finish line - it was a very exciting event.  A
local station had complete coverage so I got to watch the race on TV in the
event host hotel and then step out to the street to watch the finishers
steak by.  Being an Alaskan it was great to see Christine win. I was
suprised she did so well because it was so hot.  At the start of the race it
was above 60F and by the finish it was pushing 70.  On of the local
reporters showed a porch thermometer in the sun registering 86C.  A good
bit of the race is on Fort Jackson which doesn't have much shade on the
roads so I'm sure this really hurt them.

My girlfriend is one of the women who will chaperon women who are to be drug
tested so maybe she will relay some interesting stories to me later today.

PS - There are some real audio clips from the race at www.wistv.com
