Team Competition at Wildflower: Go, RST!

Post by Larry Litt » Thu, 15 Feb 1996 04:00:00

I'd be up for team RST at the Wildflower (I don't think it's going to help
team standings very much). My wife and I sent in our applications already
but included no team. Can this be done after the fact?

All we need to do is send Tri California a copy of our
"roster", i.e., a printout from The Triathlete's Web Team RST directory,
and Team RST is in the competition.

What do you all think?  Can we do it?

Deja vu, I was just saying the same thing to my running partner this
morning.

The entry form says: make sure you are listed on your club's official
roster, which is turned in by you president.  O.K, who is the
president?  I'll volunteer to do the paperwork needed if people are
interested.

Hey, all you RSTers going to Wildflower, whaddya think:

Does Team RST qualify for the Club/Team points competition for
Wildflower?  I sent in my registration for the long course yesterday (god
help me!), and I went ahead and proudly indicated my Team/Club as "Team
RST Racing".  All we need to do is send Tri California a copy of our
"roster", i.e., a printout from The Triathlete's Web Team RST directory,
and Team RST is in the competition.

What do you all think?  Can we do it?

Great idea, sign me up!  I just got my WF app and am listed in Marty's
RST directory.  Now if Tribaby can shake that cold and give me a swim
lesson, I'll be all set!

I dunno, Patrick; with me giving you swim lessons, you may be all set all
right....all set to sink!  ;)

Next week.  DeGuerre Pool.  11:30.  Pick the day.  You can laugh at my
stroke and I'll laugh at yours, and we can tell each other how FAST we
are!!!  Doesn't matter anyway, 'cause we'll both be flyin' by all those
fish once we're on two wheels.

Heh.

Methinks that based on your Santa Cruz results in October,
any more help and you'll be seriously dangerous. Glad to hear
you're going.

I'm not going to Wildflower or anything but I'd like to toss out
a couple of names for nomination for Prez.

     Dan the wildthing QRman Empfield.

     Ruth the matriarch Kazez

TriDork

p.s.  I don't think the eventual loser, I mean winner, will
actually have to do anything but put the title on their resume.

Steve--

Cool!  I say, if you're willing to take this task upon yourself, you are a
worthy nominee for president!  Go for it!  Thanks!

Good question, who is the "president".  I think it's never been discussed
because Team RST was always supposed to be just a loose moniker for online
triathletes to wear.  But this actually sounds like a useful idea, if it
allows us to enter races and the like as a team.  You can print the Team RST
merely by using the print button in your browser.  Let me know if I should add
a header or something to the roster for the printout (e.g., the president's
name).

This sounds like a BAD idea to me.  The main question is "why?".  After
president, comes newsletters, dues, branches, executive boards...forget
it!

Aw, heck, come on, Pat, we're just talkin' 'bout a "President" in name
only; hell, if RSTers want to continue doing team competitions, we could
change Presidents daily!  No rules, no muss, no fuss!

Yeah, yeah....Sort of the "King for a Day" concept. I like it. I can see it now...

"Hey, c'mon. I was President last time."

"Yeah, but that was just for a sprint, which doesn't count!

Or:

"Excuse me sir, would you mind stepping back out of the VIP area?"

"Hey, don't you know who I am?"

"No. (Looks around.) Who the hell is this guy?"

   "Why...I'mmmm.....the PRESIDENT,...yeah, that's it...the president. And I'm
here to congratulate Paula and Cam,...yeah. And then I'll be using the VIP
showers, yeah,...and the massage tent, and where's all the good food, anyway?

   Hey, this could work!

Presidentially,

Kurian Davis

It's amazing how easily one can be motivated by the image of a
speeding six foot dorsal fin attached to three tons of jaw and
teeth...Too bad there aren't any sharks at Wildflower...

Man, what am I saying?!
