Gee, its not like there are thousands of posts that we have to wade
through.  If it is a local shop, what's the big deal? I personally don't
mind seeing "for sale" posts for items that are local, either by
individuals or shops.  The "rec.bicycles.marketplace"  newsgroup must have
400 new posts a day from around the world.  If there is an item for sale in
the Philly area, I'd rather see it here.  If a local shop is having a sale
I would also prefer to read about it here.

Whoa, dude, switch to decaf.  It's a free Internet, he can post where
he likes.  The other newsgroups in the recipient list include
rec.sport.triathlon and phl.bicycles.  I don't know what the latter is,
but it appears to be bike-related.  Those groups may or may not want
advertising, but that should be handled directly, not through posting
on the newsgroup since the reader can't tell from which group the
complaint originated.

If you want to flame him, do it by direct mail.

How long have you been following r.s.t.?  Steve has regularly posted
notice of his weekly specials here for as long as I can remember.  He
always prefaces his posts with AD: so you can decide if its something
you want to read or not, so what's your problem?  I should also point
out that Steve is regular contributor to the group and a great supporter
of the sport.  I for one am always looking for a bargain, so I like it
when Steve let's us know when his weekly specials come out.  Get a life!

According to the FAQ for RST, ads are allowed as long as they are prefaced with
AD: or FS: so that readers can employ filters if they so desire.

You're outta line.

Marty, this was a crosspost from rec.bicycles.something. They don't have the
same "rules" as we do, apparently. Steve prefaces his posts with AD: because
it's part of the rules of rec.sport.triathlon . It's written down in our
FAQ, and Steve complies, as do most of the advertisers and private sellers
on rst. If they don't - I politely remind them of the policy.
