I've just recently started doing one and sometimes two relatively short
brick workouts per week. The bike consists of about a 30 minute pace ride
and the runs are usually 35-45 minutes at slightly slower than race-pace.
I've been finding that my lower leg (calf and front-outside shin) has been
really, really tight about 10 minutes into my run. I have been trying to
stretch regularly and it doesn't seem to help. The legs get so tight during
the runs i have to stop and stretch at least twice every half hour because
otherwise it's impossible to maintain my normal gait.
I'm wondering if this is a symptom of my bike setup. I recently put on
aerobars but I haven't used them all that much. And my bike fits well, it
was a custom measure job by my local shop who knows what they're doing...
Is this something i will just have to stretch out frequently and just live
with or is there something else i can do to relieve this crappy tightness
that totally slows down my runs?? ANyone else in the same situation.
