upset stomach while running

I've been having some serious stomach problems while running.  It
seems like each time I start to run hard, my stomach starts feeling
queasy and I feel like I need to stop to use the bathroom.  I'm sure
other people get upset stomachs while running, I was just wondering
what people do to get rid of them.  I try going to the bathroom before
going out, and that helps some of the time, but at other times I still
get that bad feeling.  Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Adam

Hey Adam,

I have had this problem many times before. It has been helped to a large extent
by including daily abdominal exercises to my routine.  I have, believe it or
not, been getting great results from the "abs of steel" tape. All $10.00 of it.

I would not be surprised if the problem stems from your back.  I have a bad
back from a motorcycle accident; when my back is out I get abdominal,
intestinal pain.  I have been able to lessen the problem with lots of
abdominal work.

What types of foods / beverages are you consuming prior to your run?  How
long do you wait after eating before you work out?  You may find you
lessen your symptoms by adjusting your pre-run eating routine.  Maybe a
sports nutrition site / book could provide you with some tips on the best
sorts of pre run foods.

Good luck.

Adam , check what your eating and drinking in the hours prior to a run.
Dairy products used to give me a similar feeling.

Cheers
