TBM/Corel series gone?

Post by David Barcl » Thu, 24 Jul 1997 04:00:00

So I went to the TBM website and found a little message to the
effect that the remainder of the seasons races are cancelled. So much for
a tune up race, it looks like IMC will be my first race this year. Can
anyone shed any light onto the TBM demise?

The only TBM race I know of is the Parry Sound/Muskoka Games on August 2

compete in the President's Choice Series.

TBM/Corel series gone?

As someone who had paid in advance to race the whole TBM series I was
very disapointed that the organizers were not responsible enough to
realize earlier that they were in trouble. At this point they might have
been able to refund some money. Then again maybe they were most likely
more interested in looking out for themselves not the athletes. I do not
unde5rrstand how a race series that draws several hundred people a
weekend each paying ~$45 can go bankrupt.

I was just informed by a friend that the Parry Sound/Muskoka Games have
been cancelled. Bummer.

TBM/Corel series gone?

They told me it was simply a lack of response to the events (not making
any money).   I went to the June 14 Canada's Capital Games Tri and it was
well organized and there were 70 people in the tri.  I think that the
President's Choice Series is taking all the people and that there aren't
enough to fill up the Corel Series (they basically compete every weekend).
The Corel series looked great on paper - I planned my summer around it
and now I'm scrambling to find tri's to fill in the holes!

I suspect that Pres. Choice series and the New Great Lakes series will
attempt to fill the void if the Corel series ceases to exist. I
personally thought that the Corel races were poorly run compared to the
PC series. Still, those races are better than NO races!
