It's finally here....the US Olympic Trials for Triathlon.  I'm heading down to
Dallas tonite and racing Sunday at 10:00am Central time.  The women are racing
Saturday at 9:00am.  I don't have much to say except I'll be doing my best to
make 15 years of racing pay off with a trip to Sydney in September.  Thanks to
everyone for their support and best wishes.  I hope to see lots of people down
there cheering everyone on.

Check out www.jackscoffee.com for my latest updates and the quickest results on
Saturday and Sunday.
Later,
Nick

Big whoopty do!  Who give a flip, it's not REAL triathlon. Who cares
about a bunch of people riding around with their face up some other
mercenary drafter's behind?  Draftathlon, fraternities, and street gangs
- the last refuge of those who can't function as individuals.

Those that can, (and qualify) race!  Those that can't: lurk the newsgroups and***
and moan about the state of a purely elite phoenomenon called draft legal racing
that has absolutely no effect on their athletic endeavors.

Yes, and that was pretty damned good. But I support our boys when they're
away from home (even though they're not there yet). I am totally e***d
about this weekend's race. Not because it's not real triathlon, but because
I have a friend who I've watched and listened to day in and day out as she's
climbed her way up to the qualifying race. It has been very exciting to
simply be around someone with a good chance of getting there.

I also have tried to follow Nick's "renegade" career closely - his spirit
resembles more closely the average triathlete's more than anyone else in the
news.

Go get'm Nick! Go get'm Brian!

I finally scored a grandstand ticket (the event is sold out) and I, for one,
will be cheering Sunday.  I'd be there Saturday, but I have a road race.....
oh well.

I'll look for you Nick and give a RST yell (don't worry, I'll make one up).
Hope to catch you there...

John

Do well, Nick.  This isn't just personal; it's historical.  Like doing the original
Ironman.  Those who come later will just be following behind you.

I hope you feel happy spitting on someone else's dream.  I guess that if
someone's goal is not the same as yours it must be wrong.  I think rythmic
gymastics is pretty silly but I would never walk up to an olympic athlete
and tell them that their sport is not a real sport and no one cares.

You have no class.  I don't like drafting any more than you do but I can
appreciate that someone has set a goal, trained hard, raced within the rules
set forth and now is going for that goal.  If you feel the need to take the
opportunity to bash that person and spose your opinion about his activity
rather than wishing him luck in achieving his dream, then pathetic is the
only word that I can use to describe you.

I wish all of the athletes good luck this weekend at the Olympic Trials and
I look forward to the Olympic Triathlon no matter how it is raced.

Todd
