Post by Moni » Mon, 01 Jun 1998 04:00:00

on the official ironman site there's some info in german about having to
qualify for ironman roth at a powerman race.
i'm looking to do this race in '99. can anyone help me figure out whats going
on?
i've tried calling the roth people and faxing them but have received no reply.
thanks for any info.

Yes Detlef Khnel is stepping right in the the feet of dave yates.
Thr will be qualifying races this year in order to get "Roth-Slots for 99".
There will 1000 slots at the powerman in Spalt, close to roth and some in
austria and 50 in gluecksburg at a half distance.
But I think detlef has some wild cards for foreigners.
But since I am the race dirctor of gluecksburg ( close to the danish border)
I will be delighted to have you here

The way I understand it qualifying won't be compulsory. It'll still be
possible to get in by sending your entry on time!

ironman roth '99- qualifying ?

thanks for your reply, Hans.
ironman roth was going to be the first ironman distance race of the " westside
wheezers" triathlon club. we chose it because it seemed "easier" than most of
the others and, as most of the wheezers are british, we could combine the race
with a trip back home.
can you send me some info. on your race?
today i received a letter from the roth organisers, but it didnt specify
whether foreigners had any reserved slots.
the wheezers are a recreational group and are unlikely to be able to qualify at
anything!!
thanks----  colin
