: I don't know anything about the recent WC's, but could someone fill us in
: on what Aleksandr Karelin is up to nowadays?
Karelin is the same as before. Just won his seventh(?) WC-title in Tampere,
Finland couple of weeks ago. Didn't have any remarkable resistance at all.
In the final he broke a few ribs of his Cuban opponent, who had to give up.
Actually Finland's Juha Ahokas lost his first match (against a Chinese)
on purpose, so that he wouldn't have to face Karelin in the next round.
(If he would have, he wouldn't have had any chances at all to win a
medal, if lost to Karelin. Now that he lost in the first round, he still
had a chance to win bronze!)
