Utah is fortunate to get the Grizzlies organization. The owners and president
Bernie Mullins know how to produce a quality product and market it
successfully. The head coach Butch Goring is great and he probably is headed
for a NHL position in the near future. The 1994/1995 Denver team had a good
balance of veterans (Doug Crossman, Gord Dineen, Andy Brickley), young talent
(Zigmund Palffy, Kip Miller, Chris Marinucci, Andrei Vasilijev, Nicklaus
Andersen), & goal keepers (Tommy Salo & Jamie McLellan). Sorry, I've
misspelled alot of names. I had season tickets last season and I felt that the
Grizzlies were a great value. The quality of play was very good and their home
record made for many a good evening. I felt that the Grizzlies could have been
capable of being an expansion NHL team. They wouldn't have a winning season in
the NHL, but they could have been competitive with the lower talent NHL teams.
It's great to now have the former Nordiques in Denver but a little difficult
financially. The Grizzlies season tickets we had were $13 per seat and the
Avalanche (?) season tickets will cost $45 per seat for the same section.
Anyways, good luck to the Grizzlies in Salt Lake, we'll miss them in Colorado.
